Travel straight back to 2010 and the definitive era of turn-of-the-decade portable computing with an authentic classic: an original Compaq Presario CQ56 15.6" Widescreen Notebook PC running its factory-original Windows 7 installation!

Having the original factory operating system installation makes this laptop far more desirable for collectors and enthusiasts: all proprietary Hewlett-Packard / Compaq chipset drivers, AMD display drivers, audio codecs, touchpad gestures, and power management profiles are completely native and fully configured out of the box—with zero missing driver yellow exclamation marks!

Featuring Compaq’s durable matte-black textured chassis, scratch-resistant geometric cross-hatch finish, and integrated full-width keyboard deck, the Presario CQ56 blends practical everyday ergonomics with turn-of-the-decade reliability. Powered by an authentic AMD V-Series V140 processor running at 2.30GHz (Champlain core, 45nm architecture), 2.00 GB of DDR3 RAM (1.74 GB usable after shared video allocation), and an internal 250GB SATA hard drive (215 GB formatted C: partition with over 141 GB of free space plus the original factory D: recovery partition), this notebook runs a clean, authentic installation of Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit (Service Pack 1).

For retro PC gamers and software archivists, a native bare-metal Windows 7 machine is an essential bridge for running mid-2000s to early-2010s PC games and software that run into modern OS DRM blocks, scaling glitches, or crash-to-desktop errors on Windows 10/11. Backed by integrated ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 graphics, it glides smoothly through classics like The Sims 2 & 3, Civilization IV, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, Portal, Half-Life 2, Plants vs. Zombies, Peggle, Warcraft III, StarCraft, and classic PopCap games.

Engineered for full standalone media utility, it comes equipped with an internal DVD±RW tray-loading optical burner, a bright 15.6" widescreen HD LED display, built-in Wi-Fi wireless networking, integrated stereo speakers, 3 high-speed USB 2.0 ports, 10/100 Ethernet, and native analog VGA video output (ideal for connecting directly to external CRT gaming monitors or vintage 4:3 LCDs).

Condition Notes

• Functional Condition: 100% bench-tested and fully operational. Boots cleanly and swiftly into its original factory installation of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The AMD V140 2.30GHz processor runs smooth and responsive, memory tests healthy, and the 250GB hard drive reads and writes cleanly with a healthy primary partition and intact recovery partition. The 15.6" widescreen LED display is bright, clear, and evenly illuminated with rich contrast. Keyboard keys, trackpad, USB ports, and optical drive function properly. Please note: Due to the age of vintage/used laptop lithium-ion battery cells, prolonged runtime on battery power alone cannot be guaranteed; the system operates reliably when plugged into the included AC power adapter.

• Cosmetic Condition: Great vintage condition overall. The textured matte-black outer lid and keyboard deck are structurally solid with intact hinge tension and no cracked chassis plastic. Shows light, normal cosmetic surface marks, faint edge wear, and minor handling scuffs consistent with careful use and age. The screen glass is clean and free of cracks. Original palm rest badges remain intact and legible. Please review the high-resolution photos for an exact look at physical condition.
