This is a new, duplicate key for DEC PDP8 and PDP11 computers.This is a copy of an original DEC key which has been machine tested on 4 different PDP8 systems AND 2 other locks removed from DEC PDP8 or PDP11 Systems - So now each key is tested on 6 different DEC locks before shipping!Most original DEC XX2247 keys found at this point could be very worn, and the Chicago Lock ACE tubular keys are not as popular as they once were and it is getting harder to find both the blanks and the locksmiths that can duplicate these keys well. Just like other keys some duplicates may not work well in all locks.Each of these keys has been tested in 4 different PDP8 systems and 2 other DEC locks to be sure that they work well.This key should work in ALL PDP-8 and PDP-8/ I, L, E, F, M systems and in PDP 11/ 20,35,40,45,50,55,60 and 70 systems.
All machines use the same key - the keys were not unique between models or individual machines.Some late machines used a red plastic key that was not "cut" and this key will work in those machines as well.PDP 11/05 and 11/10 systems used a different key and the PDP-8/A and several of the newer PDP-11 computers (11/03, 23, 24, 34, 53, 73, 83, 84, 93, and 94) do not use keys. This key also does not work on the PDP8/S which has two keys - one for power on/off and another for panel lock - this key does not work for either position on the PDP-8/S.
