WHAT HAPPENED
The card read errors on every memory bank in
MATS. A week later it wouldn't POST at all. The core's
power rail (NVVDD) is shorted to ground inside the GPU die
itself, reading ~0 ohms, and when I feed the rail
low current from a bench supply, it's the die that warms up, not
any MOSFET or cap. Leads me to believe it's a dead core, not a board-level repair.
As far as I can tell the memory controller is gone with it,
but the memory chips and power circuitry came through fine. MEMORY SEEMS GOOD
- All 8 memory chips (Samsung K4Z80325BC-HC16 GDDR6): diode-
tested individually, 23.9-24.4 ohms, uniform within +/-2%.
Seems there is no weak chip in the set.
