It is powered by a USB3 port and requires no other AC power. This means you can put this up to 6 ft away from your desktop or laptop computer. This drive enclosure is like a tank. I think it's solid metal and will not move around of bounce off the desk. It reads and writes to all of the standard DVD and CD formats. This drive was designed to attach to a wall mount or Monitor mount. It includes 2 mini 6" USB-3 cables and 2 sets of screws and instructions on how to attach to a mini or supported desktop.
