Here is are three CPUs from Cyrix released in the mid-1990s as low-cost competitors to Intel's original Pentium and their Pentium MMX socket 7 CPUs. Cyrix's name ("6x86-PR200") is misleading for a CPU that runs at only 150 MHz. Each uses a 75 MHz front side bus and runs twice as fast internally. Allegedly these had the same performance as a 200 MHz Intel Pentium. Each fits in a Pentium MMX socket, and uses the same core voltage (2.8 or 2.9V) but tends to run hotter. Cyrix allocated more transistors to the processor's integer unit at the expense of the floating point unit. That decision made Cyrix CPUs underperform Intel's in games that rely on the math coprocessor.
I include three slightly different varieties:The first has IBM's logo on top, since Cyrix used IBM's chip foundry and let them sell some under their own brand.
The second, marked 6x86L-PR200+GP is the Cyrix-branded version of the first
The third, marked 6x86MX-PR200, is the newest of the three, adding MMX instructions and using 64KB L1 cache instead of the 16KB used in the earlier two.Buyer will receive the exact three processors pictured here. All pins are straight and present. I will wrap each in antistatic foam before shipping.I offer a 30 day return privilege and free shipping to any U.S. zip code.
