IMPORTANT: support and activation status, please read
Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 in January 2020, and Extended Security Updates ended in January 2023. There are no further security patches. I would not recommend this as a daily-driver operating system on an internet-connected machine.
Microsoft also closed the free Windows 7 to Windows 10 and 11 upgrade path in September 2023. This key will not convert to a modern Windows license. If that is what you are after, this is not the right item.
Activation on Microsoft's servers for a product this old can be inconsistent, and may require the automated telephone activation option rather than online activation. I cannot guarantee Microsoft's activation infrastructure, only that the key is genuine, legible, and provided with the original media and packaging.
Who this is actually for
Retro and period-correct PC builds. Legacy machines that are pinned to Windows 7 by a piece of hardware or software with no modern driver, which is common with older CNC controllers, lab and test instruments, audio interfaces, and industrial equipment. Air-gapped or offline workstations. Collectors who want a complete boxed retail copy.
