These Riverbed Steelhead CX580s have been repurposed as fully functional OPNsense security appliances, which offers 8 gigabit ports, 2 SFP+ ports, 2 USB 3 ports (type A and type C), and extra m.2 and 2.5" slots. BIOS settings have been optimized by enabling Intel turbo boost, P-states,C-states,hyper-threading, OS power control, and disabling the default port bridging behavior. BIOS can be accessed via the console port at 115200bps 8N1, BIOS settings have been saved as user defaults.
Note that since these were originally intended to be placed between WAN and a router, ports 3-6 are bridged with relays and will blink orange when unit is powered but not booted. The front SYS LEDs are functionally irrelevant as the BMC requires the original OS to work properly. All units have a BIOS flash date of October 2021.
Also included with the CX580 are all original accessories: power cable, rackmount ears and hardware, rubber feet for desktop use, 2 ethernet cables, 2 crossover cables.
