Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3850 256MB GDDR3 PCIe – Rare Retro Collector GPU
A fantastic piece of late-2000s PC gaming history!
This is the Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3850 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express graphics card, one of the most interesting performance cards of its generation. Released in 2007 as part of the ATI Radeon HD 3800 series, the HD 3850 offered an excellent combination of performance, features and efficiency for its time.
The HD 3850 was based on the same RV670 architecture as the more powerful HD 3870, with a lower clock speed and 256MB of GDDR3 memory. Reviews from the period praised the card for delivering performance surprisingly close to the HD 3870 while being positioned at a much lower price point. It was also capable of running demanding games of the era such as BioShock, Half-Life 2 and Need for Speed very well, while even Crysis was playable at appropriate settings.

A great collector's card
Today, the Sapphire HD 3850 256MB is becoming increasingly interesting to retro PC collectors and enthusiasts. These cards are now almost two decades old, and finding a genuine original Sapphire 256MB PCIe version in good condition is becoming more difficult.
It is an excellent choice for:
- Retro gaming PCs
- Windows XP / Vista era builds
- ATI / AMD GPU collections
- Vintage PC hardware collections
- Period-correct gaming systems
- Anyone who appreciates classic graphics hardware
Back in 2007, this was a genuinely exciting graphics card. It offered a huge performance improvement over previous mainstream ATI models and was widely regarded as a "big bang for the buck" card of its generation.
This particular 256MB GDDR3 version is especially interesting for collectors because it represents the original mainstream HD 3850 configuration from the launch period.
