This is a monochrome (black-only) toner for black-and-white laser printers, and both cartridges are the same black high yield version.TN450 vs TN420: both fit the same printer models and share the same physical slot, so they are fully interchangeable. The TN450 is the high yield (high capacity) version, while the TN420 is the standard yield version with a lower page yield. This listing is for the TN450 high yield version. If your printer currently uses a TN420 cartridge, this TN450 installs into the same slot with no adapter or modification required — and gives you more prints per cartridge.Please note: this is the toner cartridge — it is NOT a drum unit. Brother machines use the toner cartridge and the drum unit as two separate consumables. • Open the front cover of the printer and locate the toner compartment.
• Remove the used toner cartridge from the drum assembly.
• Unpack the new cartridge and remove the protective cover and sealing tape.
• Gently rock the cartridge several times to evenly distribute the toner powder inside.
• Slide the cartridge into the drum assembly until it clicks into place, then close the front cover.
• The printer will recognize the new cartridge automatically. The second cartridge is kept as a spare for your next replacement.🔧 Chip / Toner Counter Reset Notice:
• This cartridge is equipped with a new chip for reliable recognition, so your printer can identify the cartridge properly.
• Upon installation, your printer may display a "Non-Brother" or similar message. This is completely normal for a compatible cartridge — simply press OK / Continue / Accept to proceed and start printing.
• After installation, if the printer displays "Replace Toner" or "Toner Life End", reset the toner counter from your printer's menu or settings, depending on your model, so printing can resume.
• If the cartridge is not recognized, remove it and reinstall it firmly until it clicks. Do not touch the chip contacts.
