A blast from the past! I am cleaning out my office in preparation for retirement, and these were in a cabinet, boxes piled in front of it.
I had two, but somebody in Boston bought one of these TK-50s.This TK-50 worked in about 2002, which was the last time I used them. I do not have the controller cable.
My Panasonic home tape deck, of about the same vintage, had to have its rubber rollers replaced in order to function, a couple years back. I am sure that something like that will need to be done to these. But unless some cosmic rays blasted the circuit board, they should work.
I will include a couple tapes (with backups and junk), and an empty box. Whoopie!
Here's the deal: I will sell this for $90.\
Since I don't know where you are, you will pay for shipping. The dimensions are 12" x 8" x 5.5". Probably 15 pounds (roughly). The "AI Description" that e-bay provides says this: "The product is a vintage DEC (Digital Equipment Corp) TK-50 Tape Drive, made in the USA. This unit is specifically designed for DEC brand compatibility and is a single unit. It is a nostalgic piece for vintage computing enthusiasts looking to add a piece of technology history to their collection or to repair a vintage computer system."What a bunch of horse-pucky. I am beginning to hate AI.
I hope you will want and need this puppy. Kinda cute...AI is right about that.
Cheers!
