To give you an idea of the storage capacity...I had over 2000 movies (most of which were *uncompressed* Blu-Ray quality backups of my disc collection) stored on it before I ran out space and had to upgrade...As for the speed, using just ONE of the two, 10 gigabit ethernet SFP+ network interfaces, a 40GB uncompressed Blu-Ray movie can be transferred in about 30 seconds.
Don't waste your money on the big-name, commercial, *underpowered* NAS systems... they do not perform nearly as well as a real server like this one... trust me, I tried them first and was sorely disappointed.
I ran Enterprise Storage OS (ESOS) which is an amazing, lightweight and high-performance iSCSI OS.I can either wipe the config and leave ESOS installed, if you like (and even help you configure it for your network), or I can install TrueNAS, if you prefer, so it will be ready to plug in and use immediately when you receive it.Just let me know if you want either of these pre-installed before I ship it out.
