History
The Amiga 3000 can be upgraded on the motherboard up to 16MB Fast RAM and 2MB Chip RAM.Many Amiga 3000 systems shipped with1MB of Fast RAM (installed in DIP sockets) and1MB of Chip RAM (soldered) and eight DIP sockets for increasing chip RAM to 2MB. Commodore's intended upgrade path for these machines was for the user to move the 1MB of DIP Fast RAM into the empty Chip RAM sockets (to reach the 2MB Chip RAM maximum) and then populate the ZIP sockets with higher-density memory like this 4MB kit.
