4x nVidia CMP170HX A800 A100 A30 A40 A16 PCIe to 2x 120mm fan intake adapter
Price: US $68.00

An organic-shaped air intake that cools four NVIDIA CMP 170HX PCIe cards with two high-pressure 120mm fans. It moves more air than eight 40mm fans and is a lot quieter.

It should also fit the A100 PCIe and possibly other NVIDIA cards with the same mounting interface.

Please message me if you'd also like the screws included! (they vary for the a100 vs cm170hx which is why I don't include them by default)

Fans

I used two Arctic 120mm fans, which I’d consider the minimum for enough airflow. Arctic P12 Pros might work at full speed, but server-grade fans have a more aggressive blade pitch that improves static pressure at low RPM, so they should be quieter overall.

Caveats

  • Short-side screw assembly: It sits close to the plenum, and there’s no clear line of sight down the screw bore, so you’ll probably need a short Allen wrench. That’s a design mistake on my part, but since my motherboard stays flat I haven’t fixed it. PRs welcome :)
  • screw assembly: These are partly blocked by the rising plenum too. A ball-end hex driver works best, but you can manage without one.
  • Cantilever load: The shroud puts a fair amount of weight on the cards. If they’re mounted horizontally, consider propping up the fans to take some of the load off.
  • Power connector clips: The plenum covers them, so you may need needle-nose pliers (or to remove the plenum) to unplug a card.
  • Long-term durability: I haven’t tested for creep or long-term stability, especially in vertical mounting, since I don’t plan to use it that way. Print with a structural profile for better layer adhesion just in case.

Required hardware

  • 6× M3 bolts, 6mm (8mm may also work), to attach the frame to the GPUs
  • 3× M3 bolts, 8mm or longer, plus 3× M3 nuts, to attach the frame to the plenum. The nuts fit into the recesses on the frame’s screw bosses.
  • 8× fan mounting screws (the standard self-tapping kind) to attach the fans to the plenum
  • 2.5mm hex driver
  • Phillips screwdriver (or whatever fits your fan screws)
