SynopsisI got this Prusa MK4 kit directly from Prusa. I eventually got a MK4S upgrade kit and installed it on this. I have used this printer for over 1600 print hours, and have replaced various parts as they wore out. Recently, this Prusa MK4S has had a print quality issue where first layers sometimes look rippled and the nozzle will drag on each layer. I could continue diagnosing and using this printer, but I have decided to move on and sell this printer to someone for cheap. If you want a good printer at a cheap price and are willing to diagnose and fine tune this printer, I think this will fit your needs. Comes with several spare parts and accessories.
The printer size is 18 inches tall, 15 inches wide, and 19 inches from the front display to the back of the build plate wiring. Add an extra 7 inches to the height if you're using the included spool holder.3D Printer AttributesThis is a Prusa MK4S 3D printer. It was originally assembled from a Prusa MK4 kit, then a Prusa MK4S Upgrade Kit was installed. The printer statistics says it has 60 days and 20 print hours on it. Originally, it came with a PEI build plate. However, the printer loadcell failed before, causing the nozzle to dig into the build plate. I have replaced the load cell with a brand new one from Prusa, and the build plate has been replaced with a satin PEI build plate from Prusa. I print exclusively with PETG and PLA, and found this Satin build plate has better adhesion and release with both materials.
About a year ago, the printer was giving me a "Preheat error" for the print bed. Thus, I replaced the bed thermistor with a "FYSETC MK4 MK4S NTC 3950 100K ohm Temp Sensor Heatbed Thermistor" I never got this error message again. After several prints, this issue seems to be fixed.
Around the same time, I got a "Preheat error" for the printhead. Thus, I replaced the hotend heater and thermistor with a CNZTHDY thermistor and heater, and I never got this error message again. This issue also seems to be fixed.
The power outlet on the back requires the power cord to be plugged in firmly, snuggly, and is somewhat sensitive to being bumped (else it will power off the printer). The cord and outlet looks fine to me, I don't see any damage, and I never had an issue with the printer powering off during long prints on my desk. However, I think this may be an issue if you were printing on a moving vessel like a cruise ship or RV.
This originally came with a PEI build plate but I wore it out from printing with PETG. I have replaced it with a Prusa Satin build plate and found it lets parts PLA and PETG parts adhere and release better than the PEI build plate. However, I noticed the printer was printing too low, and even dragged the nozzle into the build plate (NOTICE the scar marks on both sides of the build plate in the images). I replaced the load cell with a new one and this fixed the issue somewhat, although I notice the printer still prints slightly too low sometimes. I've struggled to get a clean first layer that doesn't look rippled, and I notice the nozzle drags on the print slightly between new layers, leaving scuffs in the finished part. This is the most recent problem I've had with the printer and I would rather move onto a new hobby rather than diagnose it, and that is why I am selling.
Included with the printer is a 0.4mm standard Prusa Nozzle, 0.4mm Prusa CHT nozzle, 0.25mm standard Prusa Nozzle, and a "Phaetus" 0.4mm nozzle. All nozzles contain some plastic buildup from being used and may need to be cleaned/unclogged. This listing DOES include 5 silicon insulator covers for the hotend.
Includes approximately 900 grams of ANYCUBIC PLA Filament, Texture Grey(the entire spool + filament included weighs 1188 grams total). I don't know how much the spool weighs.
Includes a "benchy" that came from this printer. It has noticable stringing, overhang blobs, and layer defects. I can send close-up images if needed.
