B&B Electronics Port Powered RS-232 Opto Isolator 232SPHI4 + power cable

This listing includes the B&B Electronics RS-232 optical isolator and one power adapter cable.

Both sides of the isolator are independently powered.  The ports connected to both sides may provide adequate voltage on the data and handshake lines to power the isolator, but that is not always the case, particularly when one is implemented with RS-562 at 3.7V.  The communication is typically compatible with RS-232 but 3.7V is insufficient to power the isolator.  For this reason, I'm including a power adapter cable which can be used to connect one side to an external 12VDC power supply with a common 2.1x5.5mm plug. You'll be glad to have the power adapter as a 12VDC power supply with a 2.5mm plug can be hard to find when you need it.  I have encountered this when trying to use a port-powered isolator between a computer's serial port and a peripheral device which didn't use a proper RS-232 transceiver.
