The Brocade BR-MLX-MR2-M is the Gen2 Management Module (-M variant) for the Brocade MLXe and NetIron XMR Series modular core routers — compatible with 4-slot, 8-slot, and 16-slot chassis systems. As the control plane of the MLXe chassis, this management module handles all routing, management, and system functions, running Brocade NetIron OS with support for up to 512,000 IPv4 routes and 256,000 IPv6 routes in hardware FIB — providing robust routing capacity for enterprise and service provider deployments that don't require the extended 1M route table of the -X variant.

The BR-MLX-MR2-M features 4 GB SDRAM, an internal 2 GB compact flash drive, an external compact flash slot with 2 GB card included, an RS-232 serial console port, and a dedicated 10/100/1000 Ethernet out-of-band management port. Management module redundancy is supported in a 1:1 configuration with N+1 switch fabric redundancy for maximum availability in production environments. Now supported by Extreme Networks following the Brocade acquisition.
