Commodore 64 Computer w Box Matching Serials Signetics PLA Fully Tested C64 NICE
Price: US $249.99
Commodore 64 Computer w Box Matching Serials Signetics PLA Fully Tested C64 NICEThe computer includes its original box with matching serial number as well as the original purchase receipt. This is an earlier board ASSY 326298 Rev C. There is no MOS logic or MT Ram present in this computer. The Vic-II is the purple and gold ceramic version. There is NO monitor, NO floppy drive, NO cassette drive, and NO other peripherals other than what you see in the pictures.
The computer is in excellent condition for its age with all screws intact and no broken/cracked tabs on the case hinges. There is only a couple of spots of old sticker/tape residue near the cartridge port. The box is in good condition with some wear from age and use.
There is no Styrofoam for the inside of the box. The original power supply and RF cable are included as well. The computer was fully tested to ensure functionality as well as repairs performed as necessary.
A list of what was done is as follows:-sockets installed for U17, U1, U2, U4, and U5-U2 was replaced with a known good chip as the original one in this machine had failed-RP2 was replaced-Heat sinks were attached to the chips that tend to get toasty, especially the SID and PLA-Voltages all checked and verified at multiple points-Multiple instances of various diagnostic software run continuously to stress the computer and power supply-Loading programs and games across different mediums such as disks, cassettes, cartridges, etc.
-All keys and both joystick ports have been fully tested
The PLA in this computer is the Signetics version which is much more reliable than the MOS version (see picture of PLA before heat sink was installed).
Even though the original power supply is included with the machine, I do strongly advise against using it for the long term without a power saver adapter. Better yet, a modern replacement power supply would be even better such as one built by Ray Carlson.
Even though this computer comes with an RF cable for connecting to a TV/display, I would strongly recommend a composite or S-video cable for the computer as the RF quality is poor on Commodores. I am also including a gold plated RCA to coax adapter for TV connection. A CRT display is always recommended for electronics from this era.
Please be aware and familiar with these computers as they do have their fair share of issues. Due to the age of these, there can be parts that can fail down the road which is just how it is with these. Everything I work on is done with the same care as if it was part of my personal collection. Please view my other listings for more 80's toys and accessories. All items are 100% authentic original pieces unless otherwise noted.
