Commodore-Amiga Early Developer ArchiveHardware Manual • Preliminary Engineering Drawings • DOS Cross-Development Software • Amiga 1.2 Gamma Software
Offered here is an unusual collection oforiginal Commodore-Amiga developer materials from the early Amiga period, including hardware documentation, preliminary engineering drawings, developer correspondence, DOS-based Amiga cross-development software, and Amiga Version 1.2 Gamma development/test software.
These materials were found together as part of the same vintage Amiga collection and are being offeredtogether as a single archive.
Early Commodore-Amiga Hardware Manual
Included is an earlyCommodore-Amiga Hardware Manualcovering the Amiga hardware architecture.
One of the most interesting features of this particular copy is the presence of numerousphysical paste-up revisionsthroughout the manual.
Professionally typeset replacement paragraphs, diagrams and larger sections have literally beencut out and pasted/taped over the originally printed material. These are not handwritten owner annotations. The replacement sections match the professionally prepared technical material and appear to represent revisions to the documentation itself.
Several examples are clearly shown in the photographs, including revisions within theSprite HardwareandBlitter Hardwaresections.
The manual was clearly used as working technical documentation and shows age, handling, toning, tape/adhesive and other wear consistent with its age and use. Please examine the photographs carefully.
Commodore-Amiga Preliminary Engineering Drawings
The collection includes a group of large-formatCommodore-Amiga engineering drawingsrelating to Amiga expansion hardware.
Visible titles/drawing numbers include:
- 327290-01 – Expansion BD
- 327310-01 – Zorro Backplane BD
- 327275-01 – Outline Drawing, Amiga Expansion
- 328060-01 – Expansion Test RAM
- 328050-01 – Zorro Expansion
- 327314-01 – Layout, Ex. Box
Several drawings are markedPRELIMINARYand carry Commodore-Amiga, Inc. engineering title blocks fromLos Gatos, California.
The drawings have been stored folded and show folds, toning, handling wear and other signs of age as pictured.
April 17, 1986 Commodore-Amiga Hardware Developer Memo
Particularly noteworthy is an original Commodore-Amiga memorandum datedApril 17, 1986, addressed:
TO: Hardware Developers
FM: H. Stolz – C-AMIGA
The memo discusses the accompanying Amiga expansion-board drawings and explains that certain dimensions remained subject to change pending FCC testing.
It also identifiesZorro Backplane Board Control Drawing #327310-01, explaining that the drawing was provided for reference and laboratory use and was not indicative of the production backplane PCB.
The presence of the memo together with the corresponding engineering drawings provides valuable contemporary context for the material.
DOS Amiga Cross Development Environment – 5.25” Disks
Also included are the pictured5.25-inch DOS disks containing components of the Amiga Cross Development Environment.
These are DOS-side development materials intended for use on the cross-development platform rather than disks intended to boot directly on an Amiga.
Labels shown include Amiga Cross Development Environment components such as:
- C Library.Tls – V1.2 Gamma 1
- C Include.Fls – V1.2 Gamma 1
- Amiga Cross Development Environment – V1.2 Gamma 1
Please refer to the photographs for the exact labels and contents represented.
Amiga Version 1.2 Gamma 1 – 3.5” Disks
The collection also contains the pictured3.5-inch Amiga developer/test disks, including Version 1.2 Gamma material.
Labels include:
- Kickstart – Version 1.2 Gamma 1
- Workbench – Version 1.2 Gamma 1
- V1.2 Gamma 1 Include
- V1.2 Gamma 1 Autodocs
- V1.2 Gamma 1 SW Toolkit – For Test Only
Together, the DOS cross-development media and Amiga-side Gamma software represent components of an early Amiga software development environment.
Disk Condition
All floppy disks are untested.
They have not been imaged or otherwise verified for readability or completeness. Due to their age,no guarantee is made regarding the current readability, integrity or contents of the magnetic media.
They are included and sold as vintage developer materials.
Overall Condition
This collection is approximately 40 years old and shows evidence of actual use as technical/development material.
Expect age-related toning, folds, handling marks, edge wear, aging adhesive/tape and other signs of storage and use.
The physical paste-up revisions within the Hardware Manual are specifically shown in the photographs and are part of the manual as acquired.
The engineering drawings have remained folded andwill be shipped folded in their existing configuration rather than being rolled or flattened.
Nothing has been restored or altered for sale.
About This Collection
The particular interest of this group is the relationship among its components: an early working Hardware Manual, preliminary Commodore-Amiga engineering drawings, an April 1986 communication specifically addressed to hardware developers, DOS-based Amiga cross-development software, and Amiga Version 1.2 Gamma development/test software.
Rather than separating the drawings, manual and software into individual listings, the collection is being offered intact as found.
This should be of particular interest to collectors of early Commodore/Amiga history, software and hardware developers, researchers, and preservationists.
Please examine all photographs carefully. The photographs show the actual items being sold and form an important part of the description.
The collection will be carefully packed for shipment with particular attention given to protecting the vintage documentation, engineering drawings and floppy disks.
