GCC Tech FX45 External SCSI Hard Drive - RECAPPED, RETROBRITE, WORKING
Internally this is a Seagate ST157N - ~ 49MB. Initially this would not spin up - so I very carefully opened the case and spun the platters by hand a few times to loosen internal grease. After this it spins up and runs properly now.
I connected this to Linux and found about 8 bad blocks. I then ran sg_reassign to mark the blocks as bad. There is a picture of badblocks running after this showing 0 errors.
I also formatted it on my Mac and wrote a text file to it.
This has been completely torn down and cleaned, retrobrited, and all AE capacitors replaced with high quality ones. I also replaced the internal fan with a quieter and modern Noctua.
Item is the hard disk unit only (no cables, needs a standard C13 power cord + SCSI is centronics).
This is nearly 40 years old and while it is working as of packing it up for sale I can of course make no guarantees.
Perfect period accurate item to pair with a compact Mac (although it can be used on anything SCSI compatible).
Ships from USA 45238 or local pickup. Thanks for looking !
