Details NOTE: This is a crossover cable for simple install or console access via the 10-pin MODU S1 port on early IBM RS/6000 machines.
Message me if you have a need for a different pinout, we may be able to do a custom cable.
Plugs into a standard USB-to-Serial port, has the signals hard-wired so the RS/6000 knows to use it.
See photos for wiring diagram.
Details:
- 3D Printed (ASA) MODU housing
- DB9/DE9 Female for standard serial
- Tested with install and console login on AIX 4.1.5 on a 7013 type 520
Should support AIX on any system with a MODU style S1 port:
- 7012, 7013 style, possibly others
- Types 320, 32E, 32H
- Types 520, 530, 540, 550
- Types 930, 950
Tech Notes:
- Tera Term works well with settings:
- - 9600 baud, 8N1, flow control: none
- - Terminal ID: vt100
- In AIX, run export TERM=vt100
- (also can put that line in ~/.profile to have it run on login)
