The Lantronix Ud1100001-01 UDS1100 Server is a single-port external device server that allows you to connect, manage, and control equipment with a serial port over Ethernet or the Internet. The UDS family of external device servers from Lantronix allows users to connect, manage, and control any equipment with a serial port from anywhere over Ethernet or the Internet.
The UDS1100 serial server provides an easy way to add any piece of equipment to an Ethernet network. It offers transparent network-enabling of devices, meaning you won't need to change the way you work. The UDS1100 encapsulates serial data into packets and transports it over Ethernet using serial tunneling. It can be used with Lantronix supplied Com Port Redirector software to re-direct Windows device applications to communicate with devices connected to the UDS1100. Additionally, two UDS1100 device servers can be connected to create virtual serial to Ethernet connections that extend serial communications across a facility or around the world.
The built-in web server of the UDS1100 allows users to access and configure the device from a standard web browser. Custom web pages can be built using Lantronix development tools to customize the UDS1100 for unique applications. The device also supports firmware upgrades and maintenance-free, non-volatile web page storage.
The UDS1100 is easy to set up and use. It can be configured locally through its serial port or remotely using Telnet or a web browser. The included DeviceInstaller Windows-based configuration software simplifies setup and provides various options for network configuration and management.
In modem emulation mode, the UDS1100 can replace dial-up modems by accepting modem AT commands on the serial port and establishing a network connection to the end device. This eliminates the need for dedicated modems and phone lines. The PoE version of the UDS1100 allows for network connectivity in areas without power outlets.
Total Com Port Control with TruPort Technology:
Built-in TruPort technology in the included Com Port Redirector software enables Windows-based applications to access and control the serial ports on the UDS1100 as if they were local PC serial ports.
