Semi’sPWRficient family—renowned for exceptional performance per watt, advanced I/Ointegration, and industry-leading efficiency for its era. These CPUs were onlyavailable for a brief time before being discontinued, making them one of themost collectible and sought-after PowerPC processors ever made.

Brief History

P.A. Semi was founded by former DEC Alpha, AMD, and Intel engineers with amission to build high-performance, ultra-efficient PowerPC processors. TheirPA6T line was a breakthrough—combining server-class capability with remarkablylow power consumption.

In 2008, Apple acquired P.A. Semi to bring the engineering team in-house forfuture Apple Silicon development. After the acquisition, commercial sales ofPA6T processors were stopped entirely. This sudden end to production created avery limited supply, and brand new PA6T chips are nearly impossible to findtoday.

One of the only production systems to use this CPU was the AmigaOne X1000,making these chips especially valuable for owners needing spares orreplacements.
