The Octopus-550 is ideal for ISPs or any type of Remote Access Service (RAS) system that does not deal with an overwhelming amount of traffic. Simply connect the Octopus-550 to a PCI slot, and you instantly have 8 serial ports. The fan-out (octopus) cable allows you to configure 8 COM ports on the faster PCI bus, for data rates of up to 115.2 kbps. Each port includes an integrated 16-byte FIFO buffer with software configurable Tx/Rx triggers. All 8 ports share the same PCI bus IRQ, even when they are accessed simultaneously, saving you valuable resources for other expansion cards.

Easy plug and play installation automatically configures I/O addresses and IRQs. The first four of these 9-pin serial ports have all of the standard serial signals. The last four ports do not include the Ring Indicator (RI) input. The Octopus-550 is fully compliant with PCI specification 2.1, and is backed by a Lava lifetime warranty.
