PiSugar 3 for Raspberry Pi Zero (W/WH/2)
PiSugar 3 continues the compact pogo pin design introduced in the PiSugar 2 series, making installation quick and tool-free.
While retaining essential features such as the onboard RTC and intuitive WebUI, PiSugar 3 introduces several new functions and enhanced device compatibility—bringing greater flexibility to your Raspberry Pi projects.
Equipped with an independent MCU, PiSugar 3 enables smart communication and feature control. Firmware updates can be performed effortlessly using a single command—no additional hardware or complex procedures required.
Software Watchdog:
When enabled, this feature requires the system to regularly send a keep-alive signal—commonly referred to as "feeding the dog." If the signal is not received within a set timeframe, the system will automatically reboot. This helps prevent system freezes or crashes, greatly improving overall stability and reliability.
Remote Upgrade
The device supports over-the-air firmware updates directly through the Raspberry Pi. With just a simple command, you can upgrade the device without any additional hardware—making it easy to access new features and improvements whenever they become available.
Advanced Power Protection
For the first time, PiSugar introduces hardware-level protection for the power module, including voltage-limiting features that cap the maximum charge level at around 80% to help extend long-term performance.
Multiple safety mechanisms are built in—overvoltage,overcurrent, andundervoltageprotection—to safeguard both the PiSugar module and your Raspberry Pi during operation and charging.

PiSugar 3 continuously monitors power status to ensure uninterrupted operation. Whether external power is connected or lost, it seamlessly keeps your Raspberry Pi running—helping prevent unexpected shutdowns and data loss.
Through the data interface, users can detect external power presence and charging status, as well as monitor overall power levels. Based on this information, the system can decide whether to shut down safely, or automatically power back on when external power is restored.
