RARE PROTOTYPE - Vintage Apple Computer Lisa 2/10 - Service & X/ProFile Drive
Price: US $9500.00

For your consideration is a very rare Apple Lisa 2/10 prototype. This is a special machine and it has been serviced to be operable.Features a Non-Apple/Non-Original front bezel featuring a replacement Lisa logo badge.

This prototype differs from production units in several ways:

• The handwritten ROMs originally installed on the machine produce a ROM configuration never before seen “D/92” these were examined and compared to all production ones and none of them are the same (slight variations) - please note: Prototype ROM image not posted online anywhere - this is the buyers choice to do so

• The model number is that of a Lisa 1 not a Lisa 2 or 2/10

• The solder mask is a different color, and there are some minor differences of parts and their locations part numbers yield no results online besides another prototype (production numbers different)

• The date codes on most chips are from before the launch of the Lisa 2/10 (most1982 or 1983) and the Widget drive was reformatted before the launch

• Apple Asset tag is visible on the case

• The mouse port on the rear is the kind used on the Lisa 1 and 2/5 not the 2/10 which used the Mac style connector

• Rear sticker indicating ports was never installed

The following service was performed in preparation for the sale:

• New foam pads on the keyboard

• Replacement of any capacitors out of spec

• Cleaned and lubricated (but untested) Apple 400k floppy disk drive

Items included in the sale:

• Keyboard w/ new foam pads

• Apple Lisa 1 – 2/5 Type Mouse

• Original Prototype I/O board that was removed as it was defective (currently has a replacement installed)

• Original Prototype ROMs removed that behaved strangely and produced “D/92” ROM declaration

• Original Prototype Widget drive with "XXXX" in the part number indicating the final part number designation was not yet chosen - this drive tried but failed to boot and was replaced with an X/ProFile.

Special notes: 1) The video has some vertical jittering likely due to a bad replacement job on the vertical-hold potentiometer on the video board 2) Some mild case non-uniform yellowing is present w/ general "patina" visible 3)This is a prototype owned by Apple from a Lisa 1 used to create the Lisa 2/10. This machine may have unknown flaws and may require some immediate (unknown) service.

This machine is 40+ year old and a non-production unit. This machine requires special knowledge to own, operate, and maintain. It is expected that the purchaser understands this and is prepared to perform minor service over the course of their ownership to maintain a 40+ year old machine. As such, this machine is sold as-is with no warranties of any kind. While it is operable now, no assurance can be given regarding its functionality.
