UP Fila ABS is the official line of proprietary ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) 3D printing filament developed by Tiertime (formerly UP3D). It is specifically formulated to optimize printing performance on Tiertime printers (such as the UP Plus 2, UP mini 2, UP BOX+, and UP300), though it can also be used on other open-material 3D printers with a heated bed.
Key Features & Specifications Net weight:1KG (2.2 lbs) continuous roll on a single spool.
Proprietary Formulation: Unlike standard generic ABS, UP Fila integrates a unique blend (often including elements like Polycarbonate) engineered to drastically minimize shrinking, warping, and splitting.
Easy Support Removal: It is highly regarded for how easily its breakaway support structures can be peeled off the printed model.Optimal Printing Temperature: It is designed to print at a relatively high temperature—typically 260°C to 275°C—with a heated bed recommended between 50°C and 105°C (or higher on non-UP printers) to ensure proper adhesion.Low Odor: When paired with the native temperature settings of an official UP extruder, it prints with significantly less odor compared to standard industrial ABS filaments.
Finish: It leaves a premium matte-like luster that handles post-processing (sanding, painting, or acetone vapor smoothing) exceptionally well.
Packaging: Vacuum-sealed in a protective plastic bag with a desiccant packet to prevent moisture absorption prior to first use.
Printing Tips
Heating characteristics vary slightly between machines and printheads from different brands. When using these materials on other machines, it is recommended to refer to Tiertime’s official printing temperature guidelines (e.g., typically around 190°C–210°C for PLA and 220°C–240°C for ABS) and to fine-tune temperature and retraction settings in your slicing software to achieve optimal print results.
Some machines (such as certain enclosed models or those equipped with an Automatic Material System/AMS) have specific limitations regarding the outer diameter, thickness, or spool hub hole size of the filament spool. If a Tiertime spool is too large or too small to fit into another machine's filament bay, you can either rewind the filament onto a universal empty spool or use an external, independent spool holder.
