Up for sale is a rare Viking Components 16 MB memory expansion board for the Compaq Contura Aero 4/25 and 4/33c subnotebooks. Tested and working, in fantastic condition.

WHY THIS BOARD

The Contura Aero comes with only 4 MB of memory soldered to the system board. Compaq's own upgrade options topped out at 8 MB (Compaq P/N 190597-001), bringing the system to 12 MB. This Viking board provides a full 16 MB, double the capacity of the standard 8 MB upgrade, bringing the Aero to 20 MB total. That is the absolute maximum the machine supports.

COMPATIBILITY NOTE

The Contura Aero requires a system BIOS dated 8/29/94 or later to recognize a 16 MB module. Most later units already have it, and Compaq ROMPaq updates were available for earlier ones.

CONDITION

Tested and working. Excellent condition with basically no wear. The board is clean, the chips and components are intact, and the connector pins are bright and shiny with no corrosion. Please see photos for exact condition.
