This is the second official Apple Newton Messagepad that was released by Apple in 1994/1995. Although it is largely regarded as a failed attempt at creating a handheld computing device, you will see many of its innovations in today's handheld computing devices (mostly cellular telephones). It was Apple that coined the phrase "Personal Digital Assistant" or "PDA" providing a name and a description of the device. There were many features of this device the represents requirements for any similar device created today, two of the most significant features were handwriting recognition, and connectivity to other computing devices.
The software loaded on this device is what was provided with the device out of the box. The various apps can be seen by clicking on the "Extras" button at the bottom of the screen.The screen is used by clicking with the Apple stylus that came with the device. The 110 had a spring loaded collapsing stylus that was held in a compartment at the top of the device. Pressing the end of the end of the stylus will cause the stylus to partially appear at which point it can be pulled out of its compartment.
