FOR SALE: pfSense five-port Gigabit router/firewall on Barracuda F12 hardware.
Barracuda F12 (manufacturer part number BNGF12a) is a current-generation device in support with the manufacturer (if running licensed stock firmware). To decouple the device from the manufacturer’s licensing and services, we installed and configured pfSense, an open-source operating system for networking equipment.
To test the device and make port functions consistent with on-device labeling, we made a few changes to the initial pfSense configuration. A detailed configuration note will be provided to the buyer. Alternatively, the buyer could simply reset pfSense to its initial state.
The device runs on an Intel Celeron N3350 processor with 2 GB of RAM and an 80 GB SSD. The processor supports AES-NI crypto. Networking is handled by a five-port Intel i211 network interface card.
The device is implemented in a desktop form factor. The case is all metal and exceptionally rigid. The power intake has a locking mechanism to prevent accidental power-down.
The device is passively cooled and completely silent.
The device is in excellent (like-new) physical condition (please review the photos; note that we are running several consecutive listings on identical devices, so the device pictured may or may not be the device you actually receive). The buyer will receive the device in its factory packaging with all accessories, including the original power supply, an Ethernet cable, a Cisco-style console cable (RS-232 to RJ-45), a set of rubber feet, the original Barracuda system restore USB stick, and the original Barracuda product literature.
